Swanley Brokerage has recently joined forces with J.D.Narrowboats based in Shardlow. As a result we are now able to offer you high quality Sailaway and Bespoke canal boats on their behalf. So if you don’t find what you are looking for and are thinking of a new craft please let us know.

J.D.Narrowboats have been building and repairing boats since 2003. Since then they have become renowned for their quality and craftsmanship.

At the 2005 Crick boat show, their shell was highlighted for many reasons, thickness of steel, solid construction, welding quality and finish. Experts also commented on the maneuverability and stability of their design.

Choice of style

• Traditional, cruiser (with optional wide-back end) and semi-trad.
• Self draining roof and a cambered front deck (for optimum drainage).
• Generous basic spec including an integral diesel tank, gas locker, escape holes, tiller assembly and engine beds

Sailaway

• All steelwork completed
• Engine installation (Beta or Isuzu)
• Ballast and basic floor laid (25 mm)
• Full internal battening and sprayfoam insulation
• Steel front and rear doors
• Sliding hatch
• Windows and porthole
• Ventilation

Deluxe sailaway

• Interior lined with oak or ash-faced plywood
• Door facing lined in timber
• Hatch trims
• Front, rear and side door locks
• Wiring tails
• Windows, portholes and doors fitted and positioned to suit each individual customer

• 135L stainless steel water tank
• Full and bespoke fit-out

All productions are complete to the highest standard and J.D.Narrowboats only use the finest steel (10-6-5-4mm), finished with a fire-retardant spray foam to current BS Standards (certificate issued with boat). All work is inspected and certified by a fully qualified Marine Surveyor before leaving the workshop.
